Survive the Night

The view has obstructed,
the window has shattered, the door
of the car has stuck, I have been
flipped from the road,
I am alone in the city, the street,
the low-lit pavement

I know what I need to do
in order to stay alive,
I attempt to unlock the seatbelt
but it is stuck

I know I should be calling 911,
informing dispatch and expressing
wounds from the wreck,
pushing the door for escape, screaming
mouth for help, fighting through
the pain for life, for survival

but I lay here without will,
to save myself, feeling
blood in my clothes, the truth yet
I can’t save me

catching a glimpse of you
clothes torn, dirty
as tears drip from the red soul.
